PRE-WAX CARE

Below is a guide that will maximize the results of your treatment as well as ensure that you encounter as few complications as possible.

  • Lightly exfoliate the area to be treated 24 hours prior to your appointment

  • Take a mild anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen. This will help to relieve some of the discomfort that comes with waxing as well as reduce any swelling that you may experience.

  • Discontinue all use of retinoids and other chemical exfoliating agents (such as acne products) for at least 72 hours. This is very important and failure to do so could result in lifting of the skin as these products compromise the integrity of the skin. This includes all topical prescription acne medication.

  • Staying hydrated regularly can help the skin respond better to waxing services.

  • If you are a sunbather, or frequent the tanning salon, it is important to stay out of the sun (artificial or not) for a minimum of 24 hours prior to your service. Waxing services will not be performed if any redness due to sun exposure is present on the skin.

  • If you enjoy exercising, please do so before your waxing appointment. Exercise directly after is not recommended due to the high risk of causing a breakout.

  • If it is your first time waxing, it is recommended to schedule your appointment a few days prior to any big events (wedding, vacation, etc.)

POST-WAX CARE

Below is a guide for your post-waxing care and if followed will assist you in maintaining your beautiful skin.

  • Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of 24 hours after your appointment, or until the tenderness subsides.

  • Avoid all physical and chemical exfoliating agents for at least 24 hours. This includes all topical acne medication as well as all forms of retinoids.

  • Avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 12 hours. This is especially important if you are susceptible to breakouts as the bacteria naturally present on the skin and in perspiration are easily able to enter the hair follicle and cause inflammation during this time.

  • Avoid hot tubs, beach, and the pool for a minimum of 24 hours

  • Avoid fragranced products of all kinds (soaps, lotions)  for at least 12 hours

  • Begin exfoliating 48 hours after your wax and continue to exfoliate 3 times per week to minimize the presence of ingrown hairs. If you suffer from ingrown hairs it can be beneficial to discontinue the use of bar soaps as they contain ingredients that are known to increase the presence of ingrown hairs.
